Betsy Gordon L.Ac. practices whole-systems Traditional Chinese Medicine with a focus on gentle, results-oriented treatments. In tune with each person’s constitution and needs, she incorporates a range of treatment styles yielding the most effective, individualized care. Utilizing combinations of acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition therapy, acupressure, massage, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion and mindfulness, she collaborates with her patients to alleviate symptoms and build resilience.
Betsy successfully treats acute and chronic pain, digestive disorders, women’s health conditions, migraines, allergies, hypertension, as well as anxiety, depression, stress, and insomnia. She enjoys working with people of all ages, sizes, ethnicities, preferences, and ensures a safe, non-judgmental space. A specific practice focus and specialty is autoimmune and inflammatory digestive conditions, including Celiac, Crohn’s, IBS, and ulcerative colitis.
Diagnosed with Celiac disease at the age of 12, Betsy suffered the downstream effects of poor digestive health for years. In her early twenties she experienced profound healing with acupuncture. So impressed with the depth and potential of Chinese Medicine, she is dedicating her career to building a new standard of care for digestive conditions. With a background in cultural anthropology, Betsy brings an appreciation for the diversity of human experience to her practice, and a great respect for her patients’ stories. While the whole-system perspective of Chinese Medicine resonates deeply with Betsy, she also values integration with the focused interventions available in Western Medicine.
After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Hamilton College, Betsy earned her Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. She is a board-certified Diplomate of Acupuncture and is licensed by the state of Oregon.
Born and raised in Vermont, Betsy balances her work life with a love of movement, including yoga, dancing and wandering walks through Portland. She adores gardening, color, music, and soup. She is thrilled to share the grace of Chinese Medicine with our community. To schedule an appointment or learn about how Betsy can assist you, please call 503-297-3825.
